Fourth post --almost end of the story
I recall many times when Holden asked several cab drivers if they knew were the ducks in a small lake in Central Park went. All them were baffled by this question. Some didn't answer.. some people thought that Holden was retarded for askin this question. One guy was like Mother Earth cares for them when it get cold---what the hell is that supposed to mean. He makes an analogy with fish in the lake. When it gets cold, they are frozen in the lake.. then Holden asks what about the ducks do they stay frozen in the lake too? Then he goes back to analogy about the fishes-- that they can "survive" in the ice because there are pores or something in the ice which brings food to the fish. I thought that cab driver was crazy or something. You might be thinking were I'm going with this story, but what happens in the end of the story is that finally Holden decides to go to that lake were he spent a good time of his childhood. When he finally arrives to the lake, he discovers that the ducks were nowhere to be found. He keeps reminiscing about the ducks and the time he spent with his sister Phoebe and his cousin Allie...thenhe feels very homesick and decides to go meet his sister. He didnt care if he was caught out of Pencey. He really wanted to see his sister; they had a special bond they really understood what each other was talking about. After they talked and everything, Phoebe instantly discovereed that her brother was suspended from Pencey. I was amazed by how she knew that so fast without him even giving her a clue. His parents arrived home and he was almost caught but luckily he left in time. He decided to live with his English teacher, Mr Antolini for a couple of weeks. Holden apparently has only good connections with his English teachers because English is the only class he hasn't flunked.

im reading this book too. and yeah i think he should give up on his duck question, and... .i really have nothing to say im just doing this for homework... sorry
I started reading this book before, but I never got to finish it. I've read far enough to understand the personality of the main character. Reading your response, makes the story seem kind of sad, but at the same time I was nice to hear that he had a good relationship with his sister.
I would like to see this deep relationship between Holden and his sister for my self because she was able to realize that he was suspended without a clue from Holden himself. I mean if i had that kind of relationship with my siblings there would be much less petty conflicts around the house.
