The Catcher in the Rye- Chapter 7 - 16 brief description
Since Holden is failing every class except English and is going to be expelled from Pency. Instead of being kicked out of Pencey he decided that he was going to leave right that instant. This was after Stadlater and Holden got into a fight for no apparent reason (fight was over nothing, was pointless). He didn't want to hang out there anymore. Since Holden had left Pencey, he grew more and more depressed. He kept meeting people he knew but it made him feel even more depressed when he was trying to make himself feel better. All his friends had changed, and according to him had become greater phonies. He keeps talking about Jane Gallagher when he gets depressed. It was one of his best friends who wasn't a phony. One time while stay at a hotel, Holden was taking an elevator to his room, and the elevator boy who's name was Maurice. Maurice hooked Holden with a hooker (Holden is 12 but he looks like he's 22). Maurice says it will cost 5 dollars and Holden agrees. The prostitutes name was Sunny-- when she did come, Holden didn't feel like having sex with a stranger. Sunny was frustrated because she woke up late and didn't do anything. Holden gives her 5 dollars and she leaves. Holden gets bummed out and tries to go to sleep. All of a sudden he hears someone knock on his door a couple of hours later. Automatically, Holden knew who it was. It was Maurice and Sunny. Maurice tells him that he was supposed to pay 10 dollars. Holden keep refusing and tells him that he said 5 dollars before. Sunny find his wallet and takes out another 5 dollars and tells Maurice that she had the money and that they could leave. Maurice started to act like a bastard and doesn't leave Holden alone even after they got the 5 dollars. Maurice beats him up severely and they leave the room.

It seemed like this moment in the book was naturally pointless xP. Why would Maurice beat up Holdon >< and if i was failing every subject (not saying im not ><) i think i would try to compromise and set up a plan with the school administrators...all in all, this book sounds intriguing
Wow i cant believe how some people are phonies like that elevator boy. I would wonder how he came into contact with the prostitute and what exactly was the reason Holden agreed to have sex with the prostitute. I was thinking about reading this book but now it seems sorta awkward.
